Edin Dzeko has dropped a further hint he will quit Manchester City in the ... - Football365.com

Edin Dzeko has dropped a further hint he will quit Manchester City in the summer after admitting he wants to return to the Bundesliga.

The £27million January 2011 signing from Wolfsburg has started just seven games in all competitions for City in 2013 and is understood to be frustrated.

Dzeko has carved a reputation as a super-substitute after scoring 13 goals this season but the striker may not stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond the end of the campaign.

"I love the Bundesliga and I will return to the Bundesliga. The only thing I don't know is when," said the Bosnia international in the Daily Mirror.

Reports have even suggested Dzeko has held talks with Borussia Dortmund, who look set to lose star striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, with Bayern Munich and Manchester United heavily linked.

But Dzeko said: "That's not true. There is a lot of talk and a lot is written. If you believed every word, I'd be playing at Bayern Munich or AC Milan by now.

"Dortmund are a top club. Everyone in Europe can see that and with (manager) Jurgen Klopp, they have a great coach working there."

FC Barcelona Vs. Real Madrid, Copa del Rey 2013: The Match That Could ... - Managing Madrid

Real Madrid and Barcelona go face to face this Tuesday (21:00 CET) in a game that could define Real's 2012-2013 season. If los blancos manage to get through and play the Copa del Rey Final against either Atlético or Sevilla, the gained momentum could carry on for next week's crucial match at the Old Trafford against Manchester United. The opposite thing could happen if Barcelona holds on the advantage they have after the 1-1 draw at the Bernabéu.

The week of all weeks will start this Tuesday. Real Madrid will play Barcelona on the second leg of the Copa del Rey's Semifinals. Next Saturday, Messi, Iniesta and company will travel to the Santiago Bernabéu for their second match in La Liga, and los blancos will have to go to the Old Trafford two days after that to try to come back from their 1-1 draw at the Bernabéu against Manchester United.

It will be good for Jose Mourinho and the rest of the team to recover Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema. Even though both of them have been quite unsteady this season, they are potential starters, and it would be very hard to replace their skills. Alonso will surely play an important role against both Barcelona and United, but Benzema will probably need to fight for his spot with Gonzalo Higuaín.

Some journalists were speculating about the possibility of seeing Ronaldo or Kaká playing as the team's striker given Benzema and Higuaín's poor form, but Mourinho ruled this out in Monday. According to his own words, Jose Mourinho hasn't decided which team he will place on the pitch for the game against Barcelona.

Most of the time, I know which team I'll be playing with and I just don't want to tell you, but not today. I really don't know which team I'll be playing with tomorrow.

The Special One might be making up his mind about three different questions. Sergio Ramos appears to have secured one of the two spots in the center of Real Madrid's defense. Raphäel Varane and Pepe are still fighting for the other one. Pepe looked quite slow in Real Madrid's late win against Deportivo, and at the same time, Varane was brilliant in the first leg against Barcelona, but Pepe was such a big factor against Guardiola's Barcelona that it seems really hard to see him missing this Clásico. That's probably the first question Mourinho needs to answer.

Xabi Alonso and Khedira will surely make the team's lineup. Thing is, Mourinho might want to have another midfielder in place with Luka Modric. That would only leave one spot for Di María, Kaká and Özil. The German playmaker would likely have the edge, but Di María has been a very reliable worker for Mourinho in the past. If the Portuguese coach decides to play with a 4-2-3-1 formation, only one player out of the trio would stay on the bench. Callejón is a useful player but it's not likely to see him starting in such an important game.

And finally, Mourinho will have to choose either Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuaín. Benzema has the skills but Higuaín usually works harder. Both of them would be a good threat off the bench, but Cristiano Ronaldo seems to play better with Benzema in the lineup, and that's a big factor for Mourinho to consider.

For Barcelona, David Villa, Alexis Sánchez and Cesc Fàbregas are still competing for one spot in the attacking part of the team. Goalkeeper Pinto should guard Barcelona's goal, as the coaching staff always let him play the Copa del Rey. Alves, Piqué, Puyol, Jordi Alba, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi and Pedrito are easy choices for Tito/Roura, but they game could change a lot depending on Barcelona's left winger.

One way or another, Real Madrid will surely need to score at least one goal in order to stand a chance of playing in the Copa del Rey Final. After that goal is reached, any draw or win would make los blancos advance (a 1-1 would send the game to the extra time and the penalty shoot-out eventually). It'll be interesting to see how Mourinho decides to play this game, as a Real Madrid-goal could be vital.

Striker poser for employer - Clubcall

Tottenham chef Andre Villas-Boas remains without striker Jermain Defoe for the battle with West Ham on Monday evening. Defoe has been out of the part with ankle ligament injury and the trust is he will be fit for the battle with Arsenal this weekend, so Emmanuel Adebayor will lead the line on their own with Clint Dempsey slotting in behind him.Hugo Lloris is likely to get back in purpose after being on the table for the Europa League match last Thursday, and he will exchange places with Brad Friedel who will get back to the bench.Younes Kaboul, Sandro and Tom Huddlestone (all leg) stay on the injury record.

The right winner that is produced by a fickle format

MARANA, Ariz. (AP) a' For such a unpredictable format, the Match Play Championship sure does appear to develop the right champion. Matt Kuchar had reason to pack a full suitcase for the high desert of Arizona predicated on his record in this tournament. He's the only player to reach the quarterfinals every one of the last three years, and he wound up losing to the ultimate champion the previous 2 times. Sunday he went the exact distance to recapture his first World Golf Championship. Kuchar became only the second person in the 15-year record of the Match Play to win without ever seeing the 18th hole except in a round, or when the courtesy van ferrying him in after winning a match drove past the final hole on the solution to the clubhouse. He enjoyed 96 holes in six rounds and only trailed after four of them. He built a lead over Hunter Mahan in the championship match and held off a fierce rally on the rear nine at Dove Mountain to shut him out, 1 and 2, and put his name to an impressive listing of winners. "Match play I find to be this kind of remarkable, special format, so much entertaining to play and so much pressure," Kuchar said. "It may seem like each hole there is so much impetus using and so much pressure on every hole. after six suits of playing the top 64 guys in the entire world ahead from top, it is an amazing feeling." One reason the PGA Championship deserted match play in 1958 was that the field was cut in half after each round, giving the crowd fewer participants to watch. Once the greatest stars were eradicated and it had been miserable for television. That much hasn't changed. Padraig Harrington left on Thursday for the second year in a line, and the only real reason he lasted that long was as a result of snowstorm on Wednesday. He lost in the first round, as did Rory McIlroy, the No. 1 person on earth. By the weekend, the seed remaining was Masters champ Bubba Watson. But a look will show that contest is gained by some of the best in match play. Kuchar's document improved to 15-3. His last win came at the cost of Mahan, who'd won 11 straight matches in this function a' 12 general relationship to his singles win in the 2011 Presidents Cup a' and had a shocking streak of 169 holes without looking. The past four winners were Luke Donald, Ian Poulter, Geoff Ogilvy and Woods, all of them considered the best in the head-to-head game that numerous feel to be the purest kind of golf. Donald has a 17-8 record in this tournament alone, which does not talk with his prowess in the Ryder Cup. Poulter had a report in match play global the past 36 months, although he wound up losing twice in one day on Sunday a to Mahan in the semifinals, and to Jason Day in a consolation match. Ogilvy was worried at failing to qualify in 2010, and it's easy to see why. He has a 20-5 record at the Match Play, with two wins and three visits to the title match. Ogilvy never lost in singles in the Presidents Cup, with two of the benefits over Steve Stricker. Woods, obviously, needs no introduction when it comes to Complement Play. He won six straight USGA games as an amateur, and despite having a new downturn at Dove Mountain a' he has didn't escape the 2nd round since he won in 2008 a' his general record in this structure as a professional is 48-15-2. Mahan had to take down Poulter in the semifinal, and it absolutely was no picnic. Mahan twice hit tough chips to within 6 feet to win a, and he chipped in from 70 feet behind the 12th green to grab a 3-up cause and shore in against the Englishman, who had been off his game for the reason that match. As difficult as Poulter is in match play, Mahan knew that Kuchar would be just as hard in their own way. "It was absolutely an alternative atmosphere, for sure," Mahan said. "Kooch and I had more conversation on the first hole than I did with Poulter all day long. But that is the difference involving the two guys. There's nothing wrong with it in any event. Poults is very steely available. He urges himself in an alternative way than Kooch does." Poulter and Mahan learned a vintage lesson the hard way. There is no good amount of time in this tournament bad time to have. Some people will get away with one in the first rounds, but not late in the group when those people who are left got there for grounds. When Mahan struck a weak pitch up the mountain on No. 4 and made bogey, he covered it more ways than one. It absolutely was the very first time he trailed in any fit because the sixth hole of the opening round a year ago. And he trailed Kuchar, would you maybe not make many mistakes. Kuchar developed a lead at the start the effectiveness of two poor bogeys and two great birdies from Mahan, nevertheless the defending champion fought straight back. He won the next two holes, both right into a fierce, cold wind, that the cut debt in half and gave loads to Mahan of momentum. On the par-3 12th and he then hit an 8-iron into 10 feet. That is where in fact the match made in Kuchar's favor. He followed having an 8-iron to just inside 15 legs, still a hard putt. "The picture was truly good, but the putt was really crucial, and like I was still in get a grip on of the match," Kuchar when that went in, I felt said. "Had that putt maybe not gone in, it would have now been only a 1-up cause, and I do believe the match was in anybody's arms at that point." Mahan kept fighting and trailed by one opening once they surely got to the 17th, and an interesting back eight ended with a thud. Both struck into the fairway bunker on 17, but Mahan's ball was slightly sunk in the sand, and his method never came near to attaining the green. Rather, it rolled through a area of desert until it set in a bush. Mahan got four shots to attain the green and conceded the match. Kuchar won for the fifth time in his career, pocketing just over $3.2 million for his last two titles a the WGC and The Players Championship. He moved to No. 8 in the world and will be looked through to as a contender in the majors this season. And now, no-one will soon be fooled by Kuchar's easy smile and happy-go-lucky nature once they come back to Dove Mountain next year. "He does it differently," Mahan said. "He is a lot more like a, Peter Jacobsen kind of person who loves to speak. He is very competitive, there's undoubtedly about any of it. Golf is played by him to win, and he works hard at it."

Gareth Bale should stay in London with Tottenham - Football.co.uk

Madrid here I come? Really?... Welsh Wizard Bale should snub Madrid and stay in London with Spurs where the future is brighter...

If you are Gareth Bale and analyze which pitch you should be playing on in the future you would think that Real Madrid is the odds on favorite destination as Bale idolizes Ronaldo and his former Spurs teammate Luka Modric left North London for the Spanish Capital in the summer.

Well not so fast my friend, if I am a close advisor to the young Welsh megastar I would offer this this cautionary tale.

In Madrid success is sure to follow in the future today you could argue that they are staring at a rebuilding process in the very near future.

As the best days of the club as it stands today seems to be behind them as the club is 16 points behind rival Barcelona in league play and they are staring a daunting task of traveling to Old Trafford which could spell doom in there Champions League run for this season.

So do you really want to join a club that is about to go thru the transition at manager as the reports continue to mount that the "Special One" Jose Mourinho is about ready to claim the throne at Stamford Bridge. So if you wanted to play for the manager who helped in the growth of your Ronaldo then you might want to think again.

So who is going to be his replacement in Madrid, at this point there are only speculation but one name that is surfacing could be Arsene Wenger if he is forced out of Arsenal, could you really play for him? Seems like a bit of uncertainity.

Reports are also beginning to surface that Ronaldo might be making his journey back to England, as Sir Alex is considering a summer swoop for his former star in an attempt to bring him back to Old Trafford. Not to mention that you cannot put it past teams like Manchester City or Chelsea making a mega bucks offers to bring him to either one of those clubs.

Also as a competitor wouldn't you rather match your skills one on one with the guy you are patterning your game after rather playing in his shadows?

It was widely reported for two years that Modric wanted to leave for Champions League football and he felt Madrid was the only place he could do that, but if you read the league table today your Spurs are only 1 point behind Chelsea for third and only 5 points behind current champions Manchester City for second place so Champions League football could be back at North London next year.

Modric himself has found life difficult as he was famously voted this season's biggest flop transfer buy. , Real Madrid is playing in the Champions League but your teammate has found those minutes very hard to come by in his first season as he has found the sledding very difficult in La Liga. So you might want to dance with the devil you know then the one you don't?

You already know that you have a young brash manager in Andre Villas-Boas, who worked under the "Special One" at Stamford Bridge, who you know is ready to measure himself against his mentor and the rest of Europe's football elite.

The Tottenham/Chelsea rivalry will take on even more epic story lines in the future with those two managers. Those are the games that world watches and you would be part of it. Really other than the "Classico" how many other marquee matchups does the world stop to watch as they do on a weekly basis in the Premier League.

The club is beginning to assemble to some real young talent around you with the summer acquisitions of Mousa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen and the winter swoop of highly rated Lewis Holtby. That talent is only going to multiply this summer as players will want to flock to North London to play next to you as they want to be part of playing next to the new "Great One". Players will marvel playing next to you the "Welsh Wizard" as players does when they play next to Ronaldo.

At White Hart Lane the Spurs are banging on the door of the football elite and with patience you would be the man leading that team who kicks the door down as Tottenham takes their place at the table and that future may not be as far down the road as some fans and critics might argue.

You do not appear to be a money hungry selfish footballer that most of the players of today, you seem to be kin to the old school players who played for the love of Club and Country who wanted to be measured by the number of trophies and medals won not by size of your their bank accounts.

Now mind you that you deserve a fair wage and at Tottenham they should be certainly are able to provide a comfortable life for you and your family with the new revenue streams coming with the new Stadium in the future. But the endorsements possibilities that you should be afforded in London could be staggering and should make you're off the pitch income soar to a point that it should more than make up for any loss wages. I also offer you this thought if the Financial Fair Play rules come into effect might Madrid be able to treble your wages as they have been able to do with other players in the past.

Why not stay at a place that at this point is more stable and on the upswing in terms of future success. The club itself has never been more stable with the New Stadium plans well underway which is going to allow the team to have untold riches that they haven't known in the past.

So if I were your advisor Gareth Bale, stay where you are at if you leaves that the pitch is greener at Madrid. Rather I would tell you that if you continue to play in the form you are today then in 10 years' time there will be a statue in your likeness out in front of the New White Lane and you will go down as the greatest Spur ever.

Heat hit large lead then beat Cavs for 11th in line

Arkansas (AP) a LeBron James scored 28 details, Dwyane Wade scored 11 of his 24 in the ultimate five full minutes, and the Miami Heat extended the NBA's best existing winning streak to 11 games, whipping the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-105 in a back-and-forth matchup Sunday evening. Mario Chalmers scored 16 points, Shane Battier included 14 and Ray Allen had 11 for heat, who got a lead early in the 2nd half, then won despite being outscored by a massive 30 points over a 17-minute stretch. Miami was down eight with 5:16 remaining, and still won. Points were scored 26 by dion Waiters, C.J. Miles included 19 and Kyrie Irving scored 17 for Cleveland. The Cavaliers are now actually 1-8 from the Heat since James closed with Miami in July 2010. Cleveland removed a 22-point deficit in the next quarter to simply take the lead, and light emitting diode by 97-89 with 5:16 remaining a' before the Heat found ways to come back. More particularly, before Wade found ways to come back. Wade began what turned into a 16-4 work with a with just under five full minutes to go, then added a three-point play on the next Miami property to cut the Cavs' result in 97-94. Heat were in business. And after Irving missed a with about 1:35 left, Wade got the rebound and wound up placing up Battier for a 3-pointer that put Miami on the top again a and for good. From there, the Heat got a little bit of luck. Bosh create James for what must have been a straightforward layup with about 40 seconds left. John somehow missed, and the ball wound up in Bosh's hands, the Heat having a new photo clock. Wade wore it down, then drove the left side of the street for a two-handed slam with 24.4 seconds to perform, and Miami on the top by four. Outcome of James missing the easy one: Yet another 16 seconds coming off the clock, and Miami stretching the cause two-possession territory anyway. Down 68-46 early in the next quarter, the Cavaliers looked concluded a last-place team, on the highway, from the ruling NBA winners who just happened to truly have the league's best current winning streak. Midway through the 3rd, Miami's guide was still 17. With two minutes left in the time scale, the pillow was 10. By the start of the fourth, it absolutely was nonexistent. The C.J. Miles Show lasted for all of 63 seconds. And these were a scintillating 63 seconds. It starts with 1:35 remaining, a 3-pointer from Miles getting the Miami lead down to seven. Then he connected on another 3-pointer, came downcourt and got a jump. Lead down to four. Another stop by the Cavs on one end, then another 3-pointer for Miles on the other a that one coming both with him drawing a from Mario Chalmers, and with Heat instructor Erik Spoelstra getting hit with a technical from referee Ed Malloy for fighting. He made the technological free throw to tie the game, the free throw for the Chalmers struck to put the Cavs forward, and they moved that 82-81 lead into the next, having shut the quarter on a 36-13 work. Arkansas used a 23-4 function in the first half to take what looked like a commanding 42-22 lead a' with an increase of than 9 minutes left until the break. Field goal was then managed only one by the Heat in the period around 5 minutes, giving the chance claw to Cleveland back in things, that your Cavs did. The basket was attacked by thompson for a couple of results, Waiters scored from close range as well, and the Cavs were suddenly within 48-41. Therefore Miami answered with yet another burst. David did not miss in the final 4:29 of the half, scoring 10 factors on a 4-for-4 run from the floor and advancing what became 16-5 spurt that gave Miami a 64-46 lead starting the locker room. And for good measure, Miami got the first two containers of the second half, pushing the lead to 22, the greatest of the evening. Over, right? Not really remotely close. NOTES: Miami's two wins over Cleveland this year, both in the home, came by a combined six factors. ... Heat F Mike Miller (ear illness) was right back with the team Sunday, however did not perform. "He can't hear such a thing we're saying," Spoelstra quipped before the game. ... The Heat held a of silence pregame for Los Angeles Lakers operator Dr. Jerry Buss, the moment closing with warm applause from the audience. Temperature President Pat Riley trained for Buss, and Cavaliers coach Byron Scott once played for the Lakers.

50 Cent makes awkward move ahead TELEVISION writer

In the strangest part of the buildup to the Daytona 500, Mr. Cent brought back memories of Joe Namath's awkward attempt to plant one on Suzy Kolber when he tried the same move with Andrews on pit road.

Former 500 winners Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart and Jamie McMurray were caught up in the crash on lap 33. So was defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski.

The melee began coming through the tri-oval when Kasey Kahne's car began to slide across the track after appearing to get bumped from behind by Kyle Busch.

At least two other drivers also got caught up in the mess: Juan Pablo Montoya and Casey Mears. Joey Logano made a great move to dodge the spinning cars.

HANG ON TIGHT: From one defending champion to another, Brad Keselowski had a piece of advice for Daytona 500 starter Ray Lewis:

The retired Baltimore Ravens star served as honorary starter for the Daytona 500. Lewis waved the green flag without incident Sunday to start the "Great American Race."

"Brad texted me on the way in, the one rule is, don't drop the flag," Lewis said before the race. "I'm going to squeeze the flag very hard. I want to watch this and be a part of it. To be here is an awesome experience."

Lewis was one of several stars at Daytona International Speedway. Rappers T.I. and 50 Cent attended NASCAR's season opener, which has Danica Patrick starting on the pole.

Oscar-nominated actor James Franco was the grand marshall and said, "Drivers and Danica, start your engines!" The Zac Brown Band played a pre-race concert in the Daytona International Speedway infield. Band member Clay Cook performed the national anthem.

Retired baseball pitcher Tom Gordon, comedian Drew Carey, and Wes Welker and Steve Spurrier also were in attendance.

Lewis called Keselowski on the eve of the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway and left him an inspirational voice message. Keselowski also often listens to Lewis' motivational speeches before races.

"I caught a glimpse of how he always watched my videos and it really inspired him," Lewis said. "That's when me and him really started having conversations with each other, and from there it just turned into a friendship. I send him motivational things, and heads-up on what I am doing, that's where the relationship has gone."

DANICA DROPS BACK: Danica Patrick made history by becoming the first woman to start from the pole in a NASCAR Cup race.

Choosing the outside spot on the front row, Patrick gave up the lead to Jeff Gordon on the very first lap, missing out on an early chance to become the first female to lead a Cup lap.

Patrick went on the radio before the race to thank her crew for giving her such a strong car. "I'll do the best job I can to do my end of the deal today," she said. "All in all, thank you for everything. You guys are awesome."

Of course, this year is different. Danica Patrick is the first woman to start from the pole in a Cup race, and Franco hinted beforehand that he was planning an audible. As unpredictable as ever, he passed on a chance to copy the command that was used when Patrick raced in the Indianapolis 500, "Lady and gentlemen, start your engines."

One day after a harrowing crash injured dozens of fans in the stands, those same seats are filling up for the Daytona 500.

"These should be good seats," said Rick Barasso, as he settled into a spot that was right in the danger zone when Kyle Larson's car slammed into the catch fencing on the final lap of a Nationwide Series race Saturday. "I mean, what are the chances of it happening again?"

That seems to be the attitude of the fans heading into the Daytona 500, the season-opening Cup race and biggest event on the NASCAR schedule. Most people say it's worth the risk to sit next to the ear-rattling action — no more than 20 feet away for those in the first row. They love to hear the engines, smell the exhaust, and feel the wind whipping in their face as 43 cars go by at nearly 200 mph.

Raymond Gober returned to the same location where he was nearly struck by a bolt from Larson's car. He scooped up the debris as a souvenir, though he acknowledged being a little nervous about his seat on the back row of the lower level. He even considered wearing his motorcycle helmet to the 500, but figured "everybody would start laughing at me." Next year, he plans to buy an upper-level seat in the main grandstand.

There are grim reminders of what happened Saturday: a bloody spot that had been washed down (not entirely, though), a tire mark on a seat, another seat that was partially bent from getting struck by that same tire.

Safety on everyone's mind before Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Raymond Gober parked his motorcycle outside Daytona International Speedway, climbed off and briefly considered bringing his helmet into the track.

"I was about to wear it in, but I knew everyone would be laughing at me," said Gober, a pastor from outside Atlanta.

Safety was on everyone's mind before the Daytona 500 on Sunday, a day after a horrific wreck in a second-tier NASCAR series race hurled chunks of debris, including a heavy tire, into the stands and injured nearly 30 people.

With small spots of blood still soaked into the concrete seating area, the accident raised questions about the safety of fans at race tracks. Should fences be higher and sturdier? Should grandstands be farther from the track?

NASCAR has long been a big draw because of its thrilling speeds, tight-knit racing, frantic finishes and the ability to get so close to the action.

And after Saturday's 12-car melee on the final lap of the Nationwide Series opener, some questioned whether that risk outweighed the reward.

Gober was one of thousands of fans who returned to Daytona less than 24 hours after Kyle Larson's car flew into the fence, crumbled into pieces and sprayed parts at spectators.

"You don't have time to react, but I just remember thinking, 'This is gonna hurt,'" said Steve Bradford, of Dade City. "We were showered with debris."

Gober picked up a bolt that landed next to his left foot and plans to take it home as a souvenir from a crash that could have considerably worse.

He and Bradford have been coming to races at Daytona for years, always seeking out scalped tickets so they can get ultra-close to the cars zooming by at 200 mph.

John and Andrea Crawford, of Streetsboro, Ohio, love sitting a few rows up. They were there Saturday and back again Sunday, just like so many in that seating section.

The area had rubber marks on seats hit by the tire. Several fans pointed out a chair bent backward, the spot one man was sitting when he got pummeled by the 60-pound tire and wheel.

When Rick Barasso arrived at his seats, he noticed a few reporters and some tire marks. He asked what was going on and then couldn't stop smiling as he waved his friends over and shared details with them.

Maybe small, but there's little doubt the latest fallout could prompt NASCAR and track officials to consider changes — at Daytona and elsewhere.

Daytona has plans to remodel the grandstands. Track President Joie Chitwood said Saturday's wreck could prompt sturdier fences or stands farther from the action.

"It's tough to connect the two right now in terms of a potential redevelopment and what occurred," Chitwood said. "We were prepared yesterday, had emergency medical respond. As we learn from this, you bet: If there are things that we can incorporate into the future, whether it's the current property now or any other redevelopment, we will.

Daytona reexamined its fencing and ended up replacing the entire thing following Carl Edwards' scary crash at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama in 2009. Edwards' car sailed into the fence and spewed debris into the stands.

"We've made improvements since then," Chitwood said. "I think that's the key: that we learn from this and figure out what else we need to do."

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Johnny Rutherford said Sunday that things should be done across auto racing. It was just 16 months ago that IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon was killed when his car crashed into a fence at Las Vegas.

"Maybe we need a double fence, one behind the other, with maybe a space in between to do something to stop this," Rutherford said. "There's a lot of things. I'm sure NASCAR and the IndyCar series are looking at everything to make it safer. What happened yesterday was a terrible thing.

"The drivers, we accept that. That's part of the game. We have to roll the dice and move on. But you don't want to involve the fans."

Chitwood said any fans who felt uncomfortable with their up-close seating for the Daytona 500 could exchange their tickets for spots elsewhere.

"If fans are unhappy with their seating location or if they have any incidents, we would relocate them," Chitwood said. "So we'll treat that area like we do every other area of the grandstand. If a fan is not comfortable where they're sitting, we make every accommodation we can."

"Real NASCAR fans ain't scared," said Zeb Daniels, who was attending his fifth Daytona 500 with his daughter. "If we see anything coming to the fence, we'll hit the floor and pray."

Manchester Town v Blackburn u18s Barclays U18 Initial League...

A really youthful part got the first post-Christmas points in the U18 League by having an emphatic gain against Arsenal the other day, following a tricky start to 2013. ARovers were planning to develop on the midweek victory over Norwich. His pack was again shuffled by adam Sadler, and changes were made six by the home side from the starting lineup contrary to the Gunners. Ian Lawlor returned in purpose to captain the side, and a changed midfield was light emitting diode well by Wato Kuate in the centre. The proper wing slot was occupied by Jorge Intima, who offered an excellent performance of strong runs and accurate crosses. Last weekas hattrick hero, Joe Nuttall, was presented another chance to cause the line and usually responded by scoring what turned out to function as success. Great function from Jose Angel Tasende on the left hand side concluded by having an exemplary cross, which gave an easy faucet to Nuttall in for his next goal in two games. It had been the next goal of your day for City after 30 minutes. Four minutes earlier in the day, Kuate had given them the lead with a strong header from a free kick on the best hand side, given following a concern on Intima left him lying on the pitch for many minutes. City fully earned their two target lead at half time, showing their attacking purpose directly from kick off. City had three attempts in order to complete before the Rovers goalkeeper choked the ball and they certainly were unfortunate to not be ahead inside the first moment, after havoc was caused by an Intima cross from the right hand side in the package. There were plenty of other opportunities too, and though there were a couple of nervy times at the rear, the best opportunity for the readers was headed broad after 20 minutes. A light snowfall joined the small Blues for the 2nd time, and they started the half well, Dominic McHaleas photo being only scooped off the line 1 minute following the system. But Blackburn grabbed one straight back soon after through striker Jordan Preston, who dinked the ball over Lawlor and into the web, despite the greatest efforts of two defenders on the line. The readers forced their way back right into a fit which had been largely one sided prior to the goal, and there since the game proceeded were several scares. Cham hit a magnificent chance which luckily hit onto the bar, Sam Tattum cleared off the line and Rovers forced many of edges which they proved struggling to change. Despite pressure from the guests, City held on for a struggling victory and ensured a real jump begin to 2013. Dozens hurt after Daytona accident dirt gets stands

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) a At least 33 fans were injured Saturday throughout a NASCAR race when a car flew into the barrier at Daytona International Speedway, throwing a tire and large items of debris into the stands. The accident occurred on the last lap of the second-tier Nationwide Series competition on the eve of Sunday's Daytona 500, which authorities said would go on as scheduled. The crash started as the subject approached the leader and checkered flag Regan Smith attemptedto prevent Brad Keselowski to keep the gain. That induced a reaction, and rookie Kyle Larson hit the cars before him and went airborne in to the barrier. The entire front end was sheared off Larson's car, and his burning motor wedged via a gaping hole in the wall. Bits of dust from the car were thrown into the stands, including a tire that removed the top of the fence and landed midway up the spectator area closest to the course. The 20-year-old Larson stood in shock a few yards far from his car as fans in the stands waved frantically for help. Smoke from the burning motor shortly clouded the region, and emergency vehicles originated on the scene. Ambulance sirens could possibly be observed wailing behind the grandstands at a time the competition winner might usually be doing celebratory burnouts. "It was creepy. When I looked to my right, the accident happened," explained Rick Harpster of Orange Park, Fla., who'd a view of the damage. "I looked over and I found a tire fly straight over the wall into the stands, but after that I didn't see other things That was the worst thing I've seen, viewing that tire fly into the stands. I knew it had been planning to be severe." Shannan Devine, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., was sitting about 250 feet from where the car smashed in to the fence and can see plumes of smoke directly facing her. "I didn't know if there is a vehicle on top of people. I did so not understand what to consider. I'm an emotional person and I instantly started initially to cry. It was very stressful. Absolutely terrifying. I love the pace of the game. Nonetheless it is indeed dangerous," said Devine who was planning to attend her second Daytona 500. She said many fans got in the means of recovery efforts by trying to simply take images and videos, even getting over fencing hoping of getting closer to the world. Shannon Speedway President Joie Chitwood said 14 fans were treated on site, and 14 others were taken to hospitals. Any updates weren't given by chitwood on their problems. Local officials said 19 fans were taken to neighboring hospitals, including two who were in critical condition but were later improved to firm. The incident occurred the day before the Sprint Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 a' NASCAR's version of the Super Bowl. Daytona employees could be seen repairing the large element of wall where Larson hit, as well as the wall which was damaged in the crash. "First and foremost our thoughts and hopes are with your race fans," Chitwood said. "Following the incident we responded correctly based on our safety methods, and had emergency medical personnel at the incident quickly. "We come in the method of fixing the ability and will undoubtedly be all set racing tomorrow." As emergency workers tended to wounded supporters and ambulance sirens wailed in the backdrop, a somber Tony Stewart overlooked the standard post-race victory celebration. Stewart, who won for the 19th time at Daytona and seventh time in the last eight season-opening Nationwide events, was in no mood to celebrate. "The important thing is what is going on on the frontstretch right now," explained Stewart, the three-time NASCAR success. "We have always known, and since race started, it is a dangerous activity. But it is hard. We think that chance, but when the lovers get trapped in it it's difficult. "So as much as we desire to celebrate as much and right now as it is a big deal to us, I am more focused on the individuals and the lovers that come in the stands right now since that was... It could be seen by me all in my reflection, and it didn't look good from where I was at." Fans were treated by the accident spread into the upper deck and emergency crews on both levels. There were five stretchers that seemed to be holding enthusiasts out, and a helicopter flew overhead. A forklift was used to pick Larson's engine from the fence. "It is a severe wreck. Just seeing the carnage on the racetrack, it's really unbelievable," driver Justin Allgaier said. It was a severe finish to a battle that was stopped for pretty much 20 minutes five laps from the finish by a 13-car collision that sent driver Michael Annett to a, where his Richard Petty Motorsports staff said he'd be used over night with bruising to his chest. The battle resumed with three laps to go, and the final accident happened with Smith attempting to hold off Keselowski through the final turn. "I tried to put a block. It's Daytona, you intend to select the gain here," Smith said. "I don't know how you can play it any different other than acknowledge second position, and I wasn't ready to do that today. Our job is always to place them constantly in place to win, and it was, and it didn't work out." While the cars started endangering throughout Smith and Keselowski, Stewart slid through for the win, but Larson plowed into Keselowski and his car was delivered airborne into the barrier. When Larson's car came to a stop, it was missing its whole front end. The 20-year-old, who made his Daytona introduction this week, stood apparently surprised, practical his hips, a few feet away from his vehicle, before finally making the mandatory trip to the treatment center. He said his first thought was with the lovers. "I hope all the fans are OKAY and all the people are all right," Larson said. "I got a couple large hits there and found my motor was gone. Just hope everybody's all right." He said he was along for the trip in the last-lap incident. "I was getting pushed from behind, I felt like, and by the time my spotter said raise or go low, it was too late," Larson said. "I was in the wreck and then felt like it was slowing down and I looked like the ground could be seen by me. Had some flames can be found in the seat, but luckily I was all right and might get out of the car quick." It appeared fans were lined right over the fence when Larson's vehicle sailed up and into it, but Chitwood indicated there was a stream. He explained there will be no changes to the seating before the Daytona 500. "We don't assume moving some of our fans," Chitwood said. "We had our security protocols in position. Our protection maintained a buffer that divides the fans from the fencing place. With the fencing being prepared today to your protection standards, we expect you'll go racing tomorrow with number changes." Larson's car did actually reach where the cross-over gate a' an area that may be opened for people traveling straight back and forth from the infield to the grandstands a' is located in the barrier. Prior incidents in which owners strike crossover gates were extreme, however the gates were in the wall and maybe not the wall for Mike Harmon's incident at Bristol in 2002 and Michael Waltrip's at the same track in 1990. Still, NASCAR senior vice president Steve O'Donnell said it would be learned. "I think we understand this after each and every incident," O'Donnell said. "We discovered before certain protocols today set up are a result of prior situations. Again, our preliminary assessment remains ongoing. However it is unquestionably some thing we'll look at. If we could improve upon it, we'll undoubtedly set that in play the moment we can." Larson was planned to race his sprint car later Saturday night in Ocala, Fla., and actually felt restless to get there during the late phases of the Nationwide race. He pulled from the event following the crash. "Honestly, the competition itself pales when compared with the injuries sustained by the fans," said Chip Ganassi, the team owner who has Larson in his driver development program. "Our thoughts and prayers venture out to any or all the lovers that have been injured consequently of the accident. For Kyle, I am happy that he is OK." Keselowski watched a replay of the final accident, and said his first feelings were with the lovers. Are you aware that accident, he decided he tried to make a winning move and Smith tried to block. "He thought like that is that is his right, and what he had to accomplish. The disorder includes it," Keselowski said. "I made the move and he blocked it, and the two people got together and started the chain activities that caused that damage. First and foremost, only want to make sure everyone in the stands is OK and we are thinking about them." Keselowski said the incident may cast a on the Daytona 500. "I think until we know exactly the statuses of everybody involved, it is hard to lock yourself in to the 500," Keselowski said. "Hopefully, we'll know quickly and ideally everybody's OK. And if that's the case, we'll looking focusing on Sunday." Casillas recovering from surgery dreams with a championship this season

Iker Casillas says his recovery from a broken bone in his hand is going better than expected and he could possibly be straight back involving the Real Madrid articles as soon as late March.

Casillas' hand was broken by an accidental end from his team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa during Madrid's Copa del Rey quarter-final sport at the Mestalla on January 23.

It was feared he would face 90 days on the sidelines, and the club moved quickly to sign Diego Lopez for 3.5 million from Sevilla to play in their likely season-defining activities against Barcelona in the Copa and Manchester United in the Champions League.

The Madrid club captain told reporters on Thursday night, at the beginning of a new club shop at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, that the original timeframe had only been a worst-case scenario.

"I am feeling quite positive," Casillas said. "The surgeon gave the worst-case scenario to me, he explained three months it could get. But when the splint was removed last week, I was told I had a month left. Now I'm doing active exercises to get mobility and strength in the finger."

Casillas said he'd been working hard at Madrid's Valdebebas training center to have right back playing the moment possible.

"Until now I have maybe not had much strength in it, but I'm receiving it back little by little," he explained. "We are in the halfway point of the injury. I've still got a month to go. I will need certainly to work more and experience more to obtain back the freedom of before. I am looking forward to returning. It is worse being off the message than on it."

The function was also attended by Casillas' team-mates including Arbeloa, Xabi Alonso, Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria, Jose Callejon, Nacho and Kaka, although coach Jose Mourinho was missing.

Alonso told reporters that he did not know yet whether he would cure his crotch issue with time for next Tuesday's Copa semi-final second leg at Barcelona's Camp Nou.

"I am in the recovery stage," the midfielder said. "I am hoping to get better the moment possible, to get gone the vexation and get back in top form. When I will be ready plenty of people ask. I hope to be able to play against Barca, but I don't have a remedy right now."

Former Liverpool player Alonso said that, with the tie balanced at 1-1, whoever obtained first in the Champions League last 16 reunite game at Manchester United on March 5 would be favourites to succeed.

"They could have the help of these fans," he said. "It will probably be described as a problem. The side that results first will soon be favourites. Old Trafford is a great floor and it is the sort of match we all want to play. The tie is quite open."

Di Maria stated that it might suit Madrid to be playing away from home in both of the forthcoming, probably season-defining, activities.

"Things are getting well and we hope to carry on this way," he explained. "We know that we've to have large matches in both contests and that it'll perhaps not be easy. Probably playing away will soon be within our favor since we do well when things are against us. We've had this week to focus on the best way to approach the games. I hope everything goes well."

Benzema, who remains any doubt for Saturday evening's La Liga sport at Deportivo La Coruna, said he was not focused on his recent poor form in front of goal.

"I trust than I have so far that I score more goals, but the thing may be the squad and to win the upcoming matches," he explained. "We need certainly to come together to win. We have an excellent team and we're all in good form."

Ricardo Kaka played excellent in the game vs Deportivo

"From the very first moment of the next half we saw a change of attitude. We did not win because of the alterations, that have been made in the twelfth minute of the 2nd half, but because of the change we made. It had been the attitude of all the participants that sparked the recovery.

"It is true that honestly he [Kaka] is playing well. He is helped by his state of mind and this is very important to the group, that he is playing well and that he is another option. That's usually positive.

Kaka's performance also received the praise of assistant mentor Aitor Karanka, who was simply happy with the reaction of the group after going behind to a Riki attack on 35 minutes.
"We knew that Deportivo weren't playing well and saw us as an opportunity to change their fortunes. However in the next half we increased our play, we scored two goals and we were able to simply take the three items home with us."

Before the Blaugrana surrounded out Sevilla later on Saturday morning, the gain moved Real to within 13 factors of group leaders Barcelona. Regardless of the margin remaining exactly the same, Kaka thinks victory over Depor could raise Real's chances of claiming wallpaper this period.

"I am a lot better. What we have around the corner is fascinating and it is the critical the main season and if the director wants me to play I'll be there to help in these matches."

"The group is playing well and things are becoming better for me personally also. In basketball everything changes quickly and I am happy to support the team win.
"[It was] an essential victory in a very hard match. In the first half we were just a little anxious and a few mistakes were made by us. In the second half we improved and we won three points which can be important for us and for what's ahead over the next few weeks," Kaka told the club's officials site.
Real originated from behind at the Riazor, with Kaka scoring the equaliser before Gonzalo Higuain scored an 88th-minute winner for the readers. "It holds true that actually he [Kaka] is playing well. He is helped by his state of mind and this is necessary for the group, that he is playing well and that he's another option. That is always good.

Kaka's performance also received the reward of assistant coach Aitor Karanka, who had been pleased with the result of the group after planning behind to a Riki hit on 35 minutes.
"We knew that Deportivo weren't playing well and saw us as an opportunity to change their fortunes. However in the 2nd half we increased our play, we scored two goals and we could actually take the three things home with us."

Before Blaugrana edged out Sevilla down the road Saturday night, the gain moved Real to within 13 points of league leaders Barcelona. Inspite of the margin remaining exactly the same, Kaka thinks victory over Depor can raise Real's likelihood of claiming carpet this period.

"I am better. What we've around the corner is interesting and it is the critical area of the year and if the director wants me to play I'll be there to greatly help in these matches."

CityTV were on hand to capture thisAludicrousAspectacle throughout a break between the morning and evening sessions of Wednesday'sAgruelingAdouble training session. The dance has been performed by everyone from firefighters, to soldiers to wrestling stars, with new variations being submitted onto YouTube at an interest rate of 4,000 per day. For the uninitiated, these videos typically last for 30 seconds and function one individual (usually helmeted or criminal) dance to the song alone for 15 seconds surrounded by a humble group of bystanders. Then, when the bass drops the movie cuts to the complete crowd in weird and crazy clothes going mad and moving along to the song by Nyc DJ Baauer. The phenomenon started from five youngsters called The Sunny Coast Skate from Queensland, Australia, whose original video now has 13.4 million hits on YouTube. Usain Bolt and supermodels at London Fashion Week have since performed the viral attack, compelling a mushroom cloud effect with more than 40,000 imitators saving their particular original assumes on the movie, acquiring more than 175 million opinions world wide. Town would be the first major football team to access the craze, so get retweeting, liking and discussing onATwitter, YouTubeAand Facebook. Arsenal Vs Aston Villa Preview: Premier League Team News ...

Arsene Wenger has endured one of the worst weeks of his career as Arsenal manager and it could get worse if his side fail to beat struggling Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Wenger has come in for strong personal criticism after back-to-back home defeats by Blackburn Rovers and Bayern Munich all but ended the Gunners' hopes of winning a trophy this season.

The FA Cup exit to Championship side Blackburn was embarrassing enough, but the gulf in quality between Wenger's side and Bayern as the German club established a 3-1 first-leg lead in their Champions League tie has been held up as evidence of how far Arsenal have fallen behind Europe's best teams.

Stan Kroenke, the US-based majority shareholder, was in London for the Bayern game and attended a board meeting 48 hours after the loss.

Wenger's future was not expected to have been on the agenda, confirming the hierarchy's continuing support for the manager.

But the growing discontent among the club's fans that has been audible in recent weeks, and in particular at the final whistle of the Blackburn game, will grow if Arsenal fail to beat Villa and step up their challenge for fourth place.

Senior players including Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott have voiced their support for the manager in the wake of the Bayern defeat.

"We need to react in a positive way straight away. We can't be down in the dumps in training. Everybody needs to be alive and alert, recover well."

Right-back Bacary Sagna has been ruled out of the visit of Villa after picking up a knee injury against Bayern, while left-back Kieran Gibbs is still out.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has raised the stakes ahead of the weekend game by claiming Villa team-mate Christian Benteke should aim "even higher" than Arsenal for his next move.

Both Arsenal and north London rivals Tottenham, as well as Manchester City and Chelsea, have been linked with summer moves for the Belgium international, but Villa manager Paul Lambert says the forward is now worth over double the £8 million ($12.2 million, 9.3 million euros) they paid Genk to sign him.

Agbonlahor said: "Christian is one of the players of the season for me so far. He's going to get linked with the top clubs, especially because of his age.

"He's young, he's gifted in what he can do, so he's going to be linked with a lot of clubs. I think he's good enough for even higher than them (Arsenal and Tottenham).

"He's showed that by the way he plays, with his composure for a big guy, and he has quite a bit of pace as well. There are many aspects of his game that are at the top level."

Charles N'Zogbia is expected to shake off a knee injury to take his place in the side, while Agbonlahor and Karim El Ahmadi have recovered from the illnesses that ruled them out of the 2-1 victory over West Ham last time out.

Subs from Mannone, Martínez, Gnabry, Yennaris, Squillaci, Koscielny, Miquel, Diaby, Ramsey, Coquelin, Rosicky, Gervinho, Ox-Chamberlain, Arshavin

Subs from Given, Ireland, El Ahmadi, Holman, Sylla, Bowery, Dawkins, Bannan, Bennett, Stevens, Lichaj, Johnson, Burke

Injured Herd (foot, 4 Mar), Albrighton (foot, Apr), Gardner (knee, Aug), Dunne (groin, unknown), Petrov (leukaemia, unknown)

Villa have twice won at Arsenal in their last four league trips. However, they are the Gunners' only home defeats in this fixture in the last 26 meetings.

Arsenal have lost their last two matches at home in all competitions. They last lost three successive home matches in 2002.

The Gunners are unbeaten in their last 13 league matches played in the month of February since a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea in 2010.

They would be top of the league if only the second half of matches counted. Seventeen of their last 21 league goals have been scored after the interval.

Theo Walcott has equalled his highest tally of assists in a single Premier League season (eight – the same as 2011-12). He has already scored a career-high seasonal tally in all competitions (18) and in the Premier League (11).

Christian Benteke has scored in each of Villa's last four Premier League matches, equalling the club record previously set by Dion Dublin (2003) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (2008 & 2009).

Bundesliga preview: European spots up for grabs - Soccerway

Champions League football will be the underlying focus when Bundesliga surprise packets Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt play on Friday.

This time last year Eintracht were in the second division in Germany, the third time in the past decade they had dropped out of the Bundesliga.

But having finished runners-up in the second tier, Eintracht were promoted to the Bundesliga for this season and started with a six-game unbeaten run.

Armin Veh's team have not looked back and could take a firm grip on the Champions League playoff position in Germany if they knock off Freiburg this week.

Freiburg only played in the Bundesliga for the first time in the 1993-94 season and have never won a top-level trophy.

Head coach Christian Streich has taken a club used to alternating between the Bundesliga and Germany's second division and has made them very hard to beat with Freiburg boasting the second most frugal defence in the top tier, having only conceded 22 goals in as many games this season.

If Freiburg win at their Mage Solar Stadion they will replace Eintracht in fourth position on goal difference but if the visitors triumph they could open up a six-point gap, as long as sixth-placed Hamburg lose to Hannover on Saturday.

Hamburg will start their short trip south to take on Hannover knowing victory will be a tough ask as their northern rivals are in fine form at home.

Hannover have only lost two games at home this season across all competitions and have claimed victory in their past four matches at the AWD-Arena.

Bundesliga-leaders Bayern Munich will also play on Saturday when they host Werder Bremen, while Nuremburg will travel to Stuttgart, Mainz are up against Wolfsburg, Augsburg face Hoffenheim and Schalke are set to play Fortuna Dusseldorf.

In Sunday's matches, second-placed Borussia Dortmund will travel south-west to face Borussia Moenchengladbach and bottom club Greuther Furth host Bayer Leverkusen.

Manager Harry Redknapp is refusing to risk the French star for anxiety about losing him for the remainder of the strategy if he reduces. Redknapp reckons his rock-bottom side have to grab 20 points from 12 games to stand the opportunity of survival. Remy, 26, made an explosive start with score on his debut against West Ham but was injured in education on February 3. Samba Diakite results but Fabio can not play as he is financed from United.

Winners League Match Preview: AC Milan versus Hamilton Academical Barcelona...

Hamilton Academical Barcelona finds itself in arguably the Champions League Round of 16as most intriguing fitting against AC Milan. One of the very most storied factors in European soccer, Milan will endeavour to capitalize on new sort, new people, and home industry gain Wednesday in one of the sportas good cathedralsa'the San Siro. Staff News: AC Milan The Rossoneri are still experiencing a unbeaten streak in Serie A, pulling only once away to Cagliari. The campaign got off to a rocky start, however Milan have increased slightly, although the part still sits in third position, 11 points behind Juventus and six points behind Napoli. Massimo Allegrias squad is one slip-up away from dropping to sixth at the hands of Lazio, Inter Milan and Fiorentina. With aging experts Massimo Ambrosini (35), Phillipe MexAs (30), Daniele Bonera (31), Christian Abbiati (35), Luca Antonini (30) and aSupera Mario Yepes (37), Massimo Allegrias side appears used compared to the side that forced a draw at this same stadium at the conclusion of March in the Champions League quarter-final first knee last year. Ambrosini had a terrific morning maintaining Lionel Messi silent facing Abbiati and the blaugrana had to wait for a clash at the Camp Nou to make sure development to the semi-finals with a 3-1 win. But a fresh faced team has pundits excited. Eleven players who played against Milan last season are history, including Alexandre Pato (Corinthians) and Thiago Silva (PSG). With exciting bursts of creativity this strategy coming from the likes of Kevin Prince-Boateng (25), Giampaolo Pazzini (28), and Stephan El Shaarawy (20), the Italians have plenty to worry the Catalans. Perhaps even a Bojan KrkiA (22) might make a direct effect from the seat. AC Milan Predicted Starting XI: Abbiati; Abate, Zapata, MexAs, Delaware Sciglio; Montolivo, Ambrosini, Nocerino; Boateng, Pazzini, El Shaarawy Staff News: Hamilton Academical Barcelona With Tito Vilanova in Ny and David Villa in Barcelona, the blaugranaas small accidents actually seem quite large. Adriano and Eric Abidal also lose out through injury and disease, respectively. The sometimes suspect backline is practically at full strength with Jordi Alba and Daniel Alves set to bomb the flanks with tricky crosses and overlapping runs. Whether Javier Mascherano gets to start over Carles Puyol is truly the sole question here. Supporters could practically taste the reunite of Abidal, as has been reported by totalBarAaAand Sport. And as examined by our very own Eric Coffin-Gould, with such a link at stake, while it's essential to maintain testing La Masiaas young defenders like Martin Montoya and Marc Bartra, this really is hardly enough time to accomplish it. Person should be considerable but hopefully not spent. Man-marking Messi seems to be the law of the land these days, but hopefully this may open up opportunities for Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro to extend and present Abbiati. Hamilton Academical Barcelona Predicted Starting XI: Valdes; Alves, PiquA, Puyol, Alba; Busquets, Xavi, FAbregas; Pedro, Messi, Iniesta Predicted outcome: Milan is just a challenging opponent and when left to a unique products, may perform a amount on Jordi Rouraas area. Expect a frustrating and tough challenge to take place mainly around Milanas remaining third. FC Barcelona must come away with the target advantage. Believed scoreline: AC Milan 1-2 Hamilton Academical Barcelona Image: OLIVIER MORIN/AFP/Getty Pictures

Collection compared to. Bayern Munich, 2013 UEFA Champions League...

Update: Bayern down Arsenal, 3-1 Arsenal have been put by a terrible start right into a huge gap, and they are planning to have to put together a fantastic 2nd half performance to repair this Champions League wrap. Bayern Munich never looked just like conceding following the opening minutes, hit early, then piled on the misery to transport a 2-0 lead to the halftime break. Strategy got down to the brighter start of the two groups, creating a handful of half-chances in the first five minutes. Jack Wilshere started both movements with great balls out extensive, but a Santi Cazorla combination in the moment was stated by Manuel Neuer, while the same move through Walcott produced a large part that Arsenal were unable to make any such thing out of. In the minute, Toni Kroos hit from 20 yards out to provide Bayern the lead. A low mix from Franck Ribery to the very best of the penalty area wasn't picked up by anybody, as Mikel Arteta failed to track Kroos and Per Mertesacker failed to step up. With no one shutting him down, Kroos took a grab and put a brilliant shot into the back of the web to step a big away goal. Things got worse for Arsenal in the 21st minute. Set bit defending has been a concern for Arsenal all time, and they looked awful in conceding their second. Daniel van Buyten was easy as he rose around head on target at the post, and Wojciech SzczAsny made a save your self. Nobody was watching Thomas MAller, however, and the Bayern opponent poked in the rebound. Both parties had reliable spells of control for the others of the half, with Arsenal having more of the ball, but Bayern supported off following their second goal and appeared content to play a more defensive game. Prior to the end of the half, they struck on a counter and a close-range header was missed by Mario MandAukiA by inches, failing woefully to capitalize on a chance that could have all but ended this link. Collection are going to need some thing special to have back this, and they are going to need to prevent conceding again as well. Follow @SBNationSoccer on Facebook

Only Stuttgart Survive As German Clubs Crash Out of the Europa ...

The joy of Bundesliga fans in seeing all seven German clubs advance into the European knockout stages was tempered by a more unpleasant reality on Thursday, as VFB Stuttgart was the only one of four to advance in the Europa League.  All four clubs started the day on their backheels after poor results in their first leg Europa League fixtures a week ago, with the Swabians being the only club able to  upgrade their fate.

VFB Stuttgart followed up an abject 1-1 draw at home against Genk last week with a 2-0 win away thanks to goals from Boka and Gentner. Stuttgart's reward is a trip to Rome to face Lazio, no stranger to teams from the Bundesliga after despatching Borussia Mönchengladbach in the last round. Nobody would have thought Stuttgart, the German Europa League club currently displaying the worst form, would be the sole survivors of the first EL knockout round, but here they are.

Genk: Köteles – Ngcongca, Simaeys, Koulibaly, Tshimanga – Hyland, Kumordzi (Barda 61′) – Gorius, De Ceulaer (Joseph-Monrose 70′), Buffel (Ojo 77′) – Plet  Stuttgart: Ulreich – Sakai, Tasci, Rüdiger, Boka – Kvist, Gentner – Harnik, Okazaki (Holzhauser 77′), Traore (Maxim 75′) – Ibisevic (Macheda 83′)

Bayer Leverkusen huffed and puffed but ultimately could not blow down the Benfica door as they lost 2-1 away and 3-1 on aggregate. Ola John put Benfica 1-0 up on the night before Andre Schürrle set up a grandstand finish with 15 minutes left, meaning only one more goal was needed from Bayer. However almost immediately Nemanja Matic put the tie beyond the Germans, meaning they went out 3-1. Bayer had all the chances but could not make them count as Benfica soaked up the pressure before hitting them on the counter.

Benfica: Artur – Almeida, Luisao, Garay, Melgarejo – Martins, (Salvio 53′), Matic, Gaitan – Perez, Cardoso (Lima 64′), John Leverkusen: Leno- Carvajal, Wollscheid, Toprak, Boenisch – Reinartz (Milik 74′) – Bender (Hegeler 57′), Rolfes – Castro, Schürrle – Kießling

Borussia Mönchengladbach crashed out 5-3 on aggregate away to Lazio, after the Italian team won 2-0 at Stade Olimpico. Goals from Candreva and Gonzalez in the first half put the game to bed. Lazio were never really troubled as they dominated chances created and the Bundesliga outfits' heroics from last week were all for nothing in the end. It's been an exciting season for Gladbach in Europe, and their fans can be proud of the team especially after losing Dante, Reus and Neustädter in the offseason.

Lazio: Marchetti – Konko, Biava, Cana, Radu – Candreva (Pereirinha 83′), Ledesma, Hernanes- A. Gonzalez (Onazi 69′), Lulic – Floccari (Kozak 79′)  Gladbach: ter Stegen – Jantschke, Stranzl, Dominguez, Wendt – Marx, Cigerci (Hanke 69′), Nordveit, Hermann – Arango (Younes 52′), de Jong

Hannover drew 1-1 with Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala meaning they go out 4-2 on aggregate. Pinto made the game interesting scoring with just 20 minutes left, but Hannover couldn't get another to take the tie into extra time, and Lacina Traore scoring in the 9th minute of injury time to finally kill off the game. A tricky tie for Hannover who created a lot of chances but couldn't capitalize on them, it will be interesting to see how Hannover bounce back from elimination from Europe.

Hannover: Zieler – H. Sakai (Sobiech 83′), Djourou, Schulz, Pocognoli (Rausch 70′) – Schmiedebach (Schlaudraff 61′), da Silva Pinto, Ya Konan, Huszti – Abdellaoue, M. Diouf  Anji: V. Gabulov – Logashov, Joao Carlos, Ewerton, Yeshchenko – Jucilei, Diarra – Boussoufa, Akhmedov, Willian (Traore 68′) – Eto'o
