The Brazilian had been linked with a return home to Atletico Mineiro this summer as well as Zenit St Petersburg and Anzhi in Russia.
However, the 31-year-old has rubbished those reports by claiming that he is going to stay at City and fight for his place.
"I can completely guarantee you that I'll not leave," he said, "I'm calm and I don't care about what they wrote about me. My only objective is to help the team and don't have any more injuries, as my goal is to return to the national team."
The full back joined City from Inter Milan last summer but has seen his impact at Eastlands limited to just 11 appearances as a series of injuries and a loss of form have kept him on the sidelines.
"I didn't have one of my best seasons, I had physical problems that prevented me from playing all the games as I used to," added Maicon. It was a complicated season, but I recovered in the last part of the season and I'm prepared to help the team."
City are preparing for a squad shake up this summer after conceding the title back to Manchester United and it's not known what kind of role that Manager Roberto Mancini will have in mind for him.
