Phil Gartside clears up facts in shouty radio meeting

Today talksport, the radio station that had Kevin Davies on the air yesterday to go over his impending release and testimonial situation, had Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside on the point. The interview did not get that well as it changed into a shouting match with both parties looking to get their words in. What was crucial about this however is that Phil Gartside managed to clear up the recommendation situation. In accordance with Gartside, testimonials are done entirely not in the club's limitations for tax purposes. The Chairman stated that the team must then and implement be contacted by an outside board. Because Gartside is in the position at Bolton that he is, he can't participate said committee. Phil was asked by Adrian Durham if Kevin Davies asked for a report, would he get one? Gartside's answer was a keen "Absolutely, yes!" before going into the policies behind the issue, to which Durham replied telling Gartside to "stop hiding behind the rules." Gartside was asked if Davies had found a brand new team yet, with Phil answering he was unaware. What Gartside did say was that there have been clubs nearing SKD behind Bolton Wanderers' backs. Gartside also unmasked that he "wasn't also aware he'd an agent until this week" and that communications were done through an outside party. The chairman finally stated he last "spoke to [Kevin] on Monday before he was goaded by you in to a meeting yesterday." According to Gartside, the discussions and choices were between Kevin Davies and Dougie Freedman and were made at the time that they were to permit Davies to probably look for a club to go to in the current loan window. The back-and-forth screaming eventually stopped when the talksport hosts asked if Gartside happened to catch yesterday's England match. Adrian Durham concluded the discussion following Gartside making the phone call by saying he was "proud of the, actually" and attributed Gartside for "some hiding behind the rules."
