The new centre, on the part of Barton Street and Moore Street, is set to open in spring 2014. Cabinet member for leisure services Councillor Linda Horton said: "The West Bromwich Leisure Centre will give you a genuine center point for the local area and help the fitness industry within the region. "We are satisfied that apprentices will benefit along with the wider group, helping us improve job prospects in addition to the and wellbeing of local people and families." As well as offering a array of sports and fitness classes for all ages and abilities, Sandwell College students will be benefited by the centre by giving training and employment opportunities. Also participating Thursday's service will undoubtedly be reps from DC Leisure and their partners Pellikaan Construction and Robert Limberick Architects, who're employed in conjunction to open the state of the art center. Chris Kirkham, Development Director at DC Leisure, said: "We are looking towards continuing to work well with Sandwell Council to encourage increased involvement in physical exercise and activity by way of a diverse and interesting mixture of programmes and facilities." Features in the new centre will include a 25m pool, novice pool, sauna and steam space, four-court sports corridor, 100-station conditioning room, two dance studios/activity rooms, interior children's adventure play centre and restaurant.
